Metropolitan Lavr visits St. Edward's Brotherhood
On 29 May, 2005 (n.s.), Metropolitan Lavr of New York and Eastern America, the first hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russsia, Archbishop Mark of Berlin, Germany, and Great Britain, and other bishops and guests visited St. Edward's Brotherhood for a service to bless the site of the new monastery building. From left to right above: Fr. Peter Baulk, Fr. Paul Elliot, Archimandrite Alexis of St. Edward's Brotherhood, Archbishop Anatoly of Kerch, Bishop Basil of Sergievo, Bishop Agapit of Stuttgardt (holding the icon of St. Edward), Metropolitan Lavr, and Archbishop Mark.
Metropolitan Lavr concludes his blessing, saying: "and God help you," which perhaps sounded more humourous in English than it did in Russian. With Archbishop Mark and Archimandrite Alexis are Hierodeacon Sabbas and James Merritt.
After the service, guests were invited to stay for refreshments and to meet the visiting bishops. Father Thomas, choirmaster, looks happy that the long day is finally over!
