Saint Edward Brotherhood Church Roof Fund

ON SAINT EDWARD’S SPRING FEAST, 18th / 31st March, our Architect, Irina Hoble-Aldersley, of Eulinea Architecture & Design, Worcester Park, received the tenders for the re-roofing of Saint Edward’s Church and the other ancilliary works, and she presented them to our Building Committee. Irina has now professionally assessed the tenders and, on her advice, we have engaged Marshels Roofing Contractors Limited of Runfold, Farnham, to undertake the work .

We then had just under £90,000 in the Fund, and with a deposit in our general fund we can make this up to £115,000. The cost of the re-roofing of the Church, re-doing the electric circuits, security system and the various other minor works included in this third and last phase of our project will be approximately £162,500. This means that we had a shortfall of £47,500.

The contractors are among those recommended by the Architect of the Surrey Churches Preservation Trust, and we believe that, given the current credit crunch, we are probably getting a very good price at this time. For these reasons, and because we would like the work to be undertaken in the period after Easter, it seems advisable go ahead with the project as soon as possible.

Because of the need to raise this money within the next few months, we ask our supporters to give as generously as possible. Also because of the urgency of this appeal, if any of you feel unable to give a great deal, but are in a position to offer us an interest free loan, so that the work might be completed, we would greatly welcome that. (Interest rates are so low at the moment that this might be an advantageous time to think of such an option!).
