The Shepherd, October 2008
POINTS FROM CORRESPONDENCE
“WHEN I look around and see the slack-jawed “orthodoxy,” I despair! The new pastors have little education except that of their previous, heterodox, loyalties, which often was well taught -what chance is there of Orthodoxy meeting that challenge? In my sphere - one priest said he had a real problem ‘with Mary’!! another gave Communion to a couple of very nice Baptists because they had helped with the singing..... We shake our heads. Anyway all power to your mental muscles and may all the goals come to fruition.” - J. F., Grantham, Lincs.
This surely only echoes what we see in the higher echelons of the church hierarchy of “World Orthodoxy” - (The Russians have a wise proverb: “The fish stinks from the head down”!) - see our first news item below and our brief comment. But don’t despair, join us in prayer, and our hierarchs in struggling for the Faith, “once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3).

Through His Eminence, Bishop George of Alania, of the Holy Synod in Resistance, to whose jurisdiction the whole of South Ossetia belongs, all monetary contributions are distributed for the purpose of meeting primary and immediate needs.
N. B. Readers of “The Shepherd” in the UK may, if they wish, send donations earmarked for this cause to the Brotherhood address, and we will forward them to Fili.
