The Shepherd, May 2008
VISITORS
DR JONATHAN CONLIN of the University of Southampton brought about twenty students to visit the Brotherhood Church on 16th April; they wee given a talk by Fr Niphon.
On Thomas Sunday, Fr David Smith of the Community of St Luke the Evangelist (MP) in Tunbridge Wells, visited the Brotherhood in the afternoon, as did the first outside visitors to our Exhibition, who had seen reports and photographs of its opening in the Woking Review.
AGMs TO BE HELD AT SAINT EDWARD’S
IN ADDITION to the AGM of the charity which administers our property here, the King Edward Orthodox Trust Company Limited, two other local societies will be holding their AGMs in the main hall here in the Summer. The Surrey Churches Preservation Trust will be holding their AGM on Saturday 14th of June, and the Brookwood Cemetery Society on Tuesday 22nd July. The refurbishment and restoration of the Old Mortuary Building and the provision of separate accommodation for the monastic community have meant that we can benefit the wider community around us by offering our facilities to them in this way, which is a great blessing to us.
BUILDING FUND
THE AMOUNT, given or pledged to the Building Fund, now stands at £672,053.94, just under £8,000 short of our interim target. The work is now nearing completion on the New House and on the Old Mortuary (except for final snagging), and we hope, when we have settled things, to turn our attention to the re-roofing of Saint Edward’s Church, which will complete the whole project. Your continued prayers and support will be greatly appreciated.
PRACTICAL TIP
IN WHATEVER circumstance or difficulty you find yourself in in life, be exceptionally careful not to get fonder of the difficulty than its resolution, or of the sickness than its cure.
